Geoff Hunt

Geoff Hunt is one of Britain’s leading artists. He was elected to membership in the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 1989, and served as its President. His far-reaching international reputation is founded on studies of historic square-riggers, particularly those of the Napoleonic era. His book cover artwork will be very familiar to those who read Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey-Maturin novels. The Royal Naval Museum at Portsmouth has twelve of Geoff’s paintings.  He has twice won the prestigious Rudolph J Schaefer Maritime Heritage Award from Mystic Seaport. His paintings are private collections worldwide, and we are honored to represent him in Annapolis.

Geoff follows the contemporary maritime scene as well and has completed paintings ranging from naval fleet reviews at Spithead to the Fastnet race. He has sailed a wide range of vessels, from dinghies in the Solent to the 440’ five-masted square rigger Royal Clipper in the Mediterranean (and has been seasick on most of them!). Geoff Hunt is author or co-author of six books and many articles on marine art. His latest book is The Sea-Painter’s World(Conway/Anova, 2011). Geoff has appeared in a number of videos and television programs including the BBC and Discovery Channel.
