Dan Holden
A lifetime resident of St. Mary’s County, Dan Holden left the Coast Guard in the Fall of 1989 to begin studying Fine Art at St. Mary’s College, Maryland. Working in several drawing and painting forms, Dan’s current works include black and white and color watercraft and seascapes as well as bright and vibrant abstracts. His subjects concentrate around his home areas of St. George Island and Piney Point in southern Maryland.
Dan prefers subjects with depth of character and familiarity – views that are close to his heart, obviously alive in each individual work, whether in black and white or in color. His subjects are not trite – instead they are infused with gritty reality, full of life and movement, bursting with southern Maryland flavor.
