Framed 29" x 14.5"
Hereward Lester Cooke studied at Oxford University, Yale University School of Fine Arts and The Art Students League under George Bridgman. Another notable student of Bridgman is Norman Rockwell. Jackson Pollock's sketchpad even featured work from Bridgman's books.
Cooke himself wrote several texts on art and was the curator of painting at the National Gallery of Art from 1961-1973. He was also well known for his authority on fake art works and forgeries, sometimes referred to as the Sherlock Holmes of the Art World. Cooke served as art advisor to NASA for 10 years and organized the National Gallery exhibit of NASA art in 1969.
