Susquehanna Herring Fishermen

Regular price $10.00

A majority of the more than 200 kinds of fish that are native to the Chesapeake are found in Maryland's waters. At the mouth of the Susquehanna River the spring run of herring provides one of the big catches, and it was during this that these fishermen had set up their pound net. In 1945 this photograph and Bodine's "Ten Thousand Vinegar Barrels" were the two most successful prints exhibited in American salons.
